Latest Podcasts, Publications, and More
I’ve neglected to post my news on this site. Sending out my weekly newsletter Wander, Wonder, Write makes me forget I also have a website where readers might come to find updates.
Here’s what happened and what is scheduled to happen.
Podcasts
If you want to hear me talk about my story collection, nomad life, writing in English as a Dutch person, and more, please tune into the following podcasts:
- The Old Man’s Podcast, live on Monday May 19 at 7AM PST, on the Podbean App and available for listening afterwards on the Old Man Website.
- The Catskill Mountain Dreamer, live on FM radio on June 19 at 1PM EST, and available for listening afterwards on the Catskill Mountains Dreamer website.
Presentation
In March 2025, I was a presenter for the HerStories Project Incubator. This was a 4-week community writing experience designed for midlife women who want to write together, meet one another, join online workshops (such as mine), and learn a lot in the process. My presentation was called The Writer as Character: How to Craft Narrators Readers Trust.
Interview
Tom Fish, writer of Tom Fish Is Away, a well-written and fun travel diary, interviewed me for his biweekly Speedy Boarding series, which has nothing to do with boarding. Find his latest newsletter to read about my favorite place in the world, my dream travel companion, destinations I’m looking forward to, and one thing I never travel without.
Publications
- Slate published my column How I Learned to Love Minimizing My Possessions.
- Gargoyle Magazine published my personal essay Michael Jackson at Night.
- Lit Mag News published my guest post Writing Wildly: How to Turn Experiments into a Cohesive Book.
- Fiction Attic Press published my flash fiction What She Really Wants to Know.
- SmallStack published my personal essay How Just One Exceptional Reader Changed My Life.
Live Instagram Event
I did on Live Instagram event with Alyson Shelton who edits the Where-I’m-From Series. I read aloud my prose poem “Where I’m From,” and spoke with her about dolphins, the names of our dead—Michael and Hans—and the night as a lens. Please go to Instagram or YouTube to see the video or read the full poem.
If you’re sorry you missed any of these events or publications, please subscribe to my newsletter Wander, Wonder, Write. It’s free and it will keep you up to date.
