The best middle grade books that capture the magic of Paris and France

As authors of “A Whale in Paris,” Daniel and I were asked to share our favorite children’s books on a topic close to our heart: The Magic of Paris.

Paris has always been special to us. It’s where we found each other and fell in love. It’s where we wrote our first books and movies. The City of Lights charmed and inspired us for twenty years: Paris made us into the storytellers we are today.

It’s almost impossible to say what the best middle grade books on any topic are. We can only recommend titles that stood out for us. Of course we hope that the books on our Shepherd List will make you feel how magical Paris and France truly are. They contain stories about unlikely friendships and fantastic adventures that shine a light in the deepest dark. Stories that celebrate life.
